Global Dental Science LLC is opening a manufacturing facility in the Scottsdale Airpark that will create about 150 jobs over the next year.
Global Dental will make its new product, AvaDent Digital Dentures, in its 27,000-square-foot facility at 15730 N. 83rd Way, Suite 101.
The dentures are made using laser scanners that take precise measurements of each patient and create a custom-fitted digital prosthetic.
The company expects to initially invest $5 million in Scottsdale.
Tim Thompson, president of Global Dental Services, said the company is proud to bring jobs to Scottsdale in this challenging economic environment.
Thompson is the former president and CEO of Hytec Inc., a Los Alamos, N.M., technology company, focused on three-dimensional scanning.
"Global Dental Science is yet another example of an innovative company choosing Greater Phoenix for its U.S manufacturing facility," said Barry Broome, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
