GPEC’s Shovel-Ready program helps communities and companies identify sites that can be developed quickly.

Sites designated by GPEC as “shovel-ready” are available for sale or lease immediately, zoned commercial or industrial and ready to build with all utilities and other infrastructure in place.

This advance work creates a site where construction can begin rapidly, once a prospective business decides to develop a facility there.

By reducing the time it takes a company to begin construction of a new facility, GPEC and our partners are able to provide valuable savings to the business and job opportunities for local residents.

Shovel-ready sites must meet a 20-point criteria checklist to qualify for certification.
