VP, Business Development – Biosciences
Job Overview
GPEC is actively seeking a Vice President of Business Development – Biosciences. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and will lead business development activity and prospect generation in the biosciences sector. And will be responsible for sourcing and nurturing new business expansion and relocation leads, qualified prospects in the biosciences sector, and for delivering GPEC’s core services to the highest standard in line with the GPEC mission to attract and grow quality businesses and to advocate for Greater Phoenix competitiveness.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a regional business attraction and investment growth plan focused on biomedical sectors of opportunity (notably inclusive neuroscience, diagnostics, oncology, and regenerative medicine subsectors among others)
- Identify key companies in target sectors that are ready to make regional investment/expansion and executes strategies to engage decision makers
- Establish a system to engage local healthcare/biomedical assets to provide ongoing market intelligence to inform organizational strategy relative to healthcare, bioscience and medical devices
- Understand and articulate nuanced advantages of anchor institutions, educational assets and bioscience focused real estate developments
- Provide guidance and leadership on the deployment of industry targeted marketing strategies
- Support the GPEC Competitiveness efforts by providing technical knowledge to key grant opportunities
- By end of first year, establish a pipeline of projects evaluating the market
Requirements, Qualifications and Desired Traits
- Bachelor’s degree and five years direct bioscience/biomedical related experience.
- Experience developing new business prospects and managing prospects to a successful completion.
- Exceptional organizational and management skills, including the handling of multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated client relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Dynamic, instinctive leadership traits.
- Driven, focused work ethic.
