These butterflies are iridescent. As Phoenix renews and revitalizes, so do these three creatures, thriving in the warmth of our valley.

This oil painting represents the awe-inspiring rebirth of the desert with our annual monsoon rains.

This watercolor represents the song of joy we feel in our hearts, marveling that we are lucky enough to live in this place.

This large painting is the first in a series of the brilliant, brief life of an Arizona poppy. The prolific blooming of these flowers in gardens and in the wild celebrates the incredible spring paradise we get to experience in Greater Phoenix.

This painting continues to celebrate the Greater Phoenix paradise in the spring by showcasing the Arizona poppy.

The third in a series, this painting explores the absolute brilliance of a desert bloom as well as the brief life that most experience, by its ragged and wilting pedals that continue to hold intense color.

The Silence is part of my Mythic Series begun during this pandemic to draw upon archetypes as symbols of strength in these times. In this, I hope to touch not only those in our area but well beyond. Silence here is not the phenomenon, but the living resonant core that permeates everything. So that when you enter The Silence you discover Her already residing within yourself.

The Visionary is part of my Mythic Series begun during this pandemic to draw upon archetypes as symbols of strength during these times. In this, I hope to touch not only those in our area but well beyond.

Completed during the pandemic, Under the Snow Moon is meant to commemorate the resilience of the Hopi people, living peacefully as stewards of Mother Earth. During visionary rituals in the kiva, when the future may be seen, they pray not only for themselves but all beings.

I’m fortunate to live in the high desert where there’s little exterior artificial light. Sometimes in the darkest part of night I go outside, gaze upward and become awestruck. As my eyes adjust, what at first may seem limited pinpoints of light … become limitless. And the more I allow my eyes to rest in that vastness, the more I feel the draw to just let go, to leave any thoughts behind and slip out of my skin. I feel the Universe beckoning me into communion.

Show the nerves that bring the life to the leaves. Build the structure for the life.

Tulip bulbs opening their red flowers into a home, bringing hope — red hope — and combining the colors with the house. Red, the color of love and passion — just the two necessary principles that the new year needs.

The soul of this horse is in the Sonoran desert of Arizona. Native American Indians still sometimes paint their horses with symbols that have many different meanings.

These three look like they are on a mission and have a destination!

Living in Arizona, I LOVE cowboy boots. We always seek the opportunity to show off our latest pair! These girls are admiring their own and each other’s while enjoying a lazy day in the pasture.

Blooming cacti brighten our spring in the desert.

This piece is inspired by Native American culture and storytelling, specifically the Katsinam. I have always been fascinated with Kachina tradition and I thought the butterfly maiden was a really beautiful symbol. I wanted to capture the idea of renewal in this piece.

I love all mythologies because they are full of wondrous worlds, creatures, and adventures. Dryads are among my favorite figures from these stories — they are beautiful, highly symbolic and symbolize many different things.

In this piece, I imagined a dryad waking at daybreak. I wanted to show the connection between the Dryad and the environment she is in. They are linked. Co-dependent. Like we are.

What creature in mythology is more legendary than the phoenix? I wanted to show the phoenix in a different way: I was once at a zoo and saw a white peacock and thought, that would make a really beautiful phoenix. In this piece, I portrayed the phoenix rising after rebirth, rather than cloaked in flames.

These paintings are an homage to two of my favorite local species: the palo verde and the carpenter bee. I love the contrast between the rich, saturated yellow of the palo verde flowers and the obsidian sheen of the bees. The fact that they need one another to survive is just as beautiful as is the image of their interactions. It is a scene and a sentiment worthy of a Song Dynasty scroll, and we in Arizona are fortunate to witness it every spring.

Mockingbirds are active early, beginning the days.

After moving to Arizona in 2019 I had a desire to paint my old hometown of New York. As I painted the surfaces the work felt more lively, warm, and welcoming. I realized this was not a true representation of the city I once knew. My idea of the city I had once lived in became more vibrant after I found my own space and calmness here in Arizona. This fact led me to then erase large portions of the work with plaster. The idea of building upon a new landscape a fresh start is what this body represents to me.

The agave plant is a beautiful sculpture with pointed arms and blue green hue. It is also good in the form of a margarita. The plant is revived in new ways. It’s crazy good.

The sheep industry is deeply rooted in the Phoenix development of our canals and agriculture. Revival of this industry would be paramount to creating natural uniforms that are flame retardant and wool that is longer lasting when worn. Our landfills will be less crowded with the use of quality clothing.

Van Gogh painted The Starry Night. A revival version is our Valley area desert nights.

As the title suggest, “rising” may symbolize the great phoenix rising. Phoenix keeps reinventing itself and growing/rising.

Phoenix revives and revitalizes itself every winter. On my daily walks, I noticed how our winter is closer to everyone else’s fall, as leaves have only just started to yellow and trees have started to shed. Nature provides an inexhaustible theme or rebirth and revival.

On my daily walks, I have been visiting this Little Tree for years. It has been burned by our unforgiving sun, contorted by wind, yet it remains a happy little tree providing shade for humans and ducks, shelter for squirrels, and food for birds and insects. It is a symbol of revival in its stubbornness to live. This Little Tree is bright Phoenix.

This piece was created using methods to ensure it holds resonance with the subject matter. The materials were created while being surrounded by orgonite Pyramids made with stones appropriate to the work, smudged at each stage (cleansed and blessed with White Sage), charged with Sedona Red Rock and tuned using Singing Bowls. Each paint was custom-mixed with the “guidance” I receive. It was so successul, the Red Rocks in the painting actually take on the same Golden/Red glow as the actual Sedona Red Rocks during the golden hour!

The subject manifest: This work illustrates an experience of finding resonance with the Red Rock formation of Sedona. It also came forth with a clear manifestation of what I like to call the “Tween Spaces” positioned between this 3D physical realm, and a mirror reality. It’s in this space where the mysteries of Sedona exist. Sedona and the surrounding land are extremely spirited. I use this medium to provide yet another view into the beyond. This painting brought forth a heron, duck, and several other birds along with other “messengers!” Each element of this painting is speaking many things. Even the underlying “grid” pattern holds significance. This painting will bring great energy into your space! It is my hope that more people are encouraged to find connection with the beautiful land in this most wonderful of states!

“You have chaos in your soul and lightning in your veins. You, my dear, were made for wild, magical things.” This is an original poem of mine which struck a significant chord globally via online viewership. This work represents the pent-up feeling that stems from a lack of control over current circumstances and serves as a reminder that one’s internal energy, as well as an unwavering belief in opportunity, will carry the heart through to the dreams it has always wanted.

“I hope you remember the grace of your strength when the world tells you you’re tattered and worn. It is the glowing youth of your heart and the ageless dreams of your mind that have kept you so beautiful for all this time.” This work was inspired by my poem and is a study on resilience in times when one is faced with a loss of faith in the future. Without hope, the human heart slows its beat. Without hope, the human spirit cannot survive. Renewal requires courage centered squarely on hope for a stronger, kinder and expansive tomorrow.

The infinite soul is an exquisite existence, but we sometimes get so caught up in being human that we forget what we truly are. We are beautifully unique and perfectly flawed creatures who define the spirit of our reality. So dream. Dream without reason. Without proof. Without agreement. Just dream.” This work was created as an escape into fantasy … a place to re-align the heart and mind. Part protection from the global crisis and part inspiration to look beyond our current state and instead place focus on the wondrous times ahead.

Greater Phoenix provides many sanctuaries and adoption opportunities for the wild donkeys. They make fantastic companions and can have a variety of uses while always keep you smiling. We love walking our donkeys or driving them in a cart in our neighborhood. We use our mini-donkey to deliver used books to people in our community.

Urban donkeys are a thing in Greater Phoenix. They reflect history of the mining camps that later became towns on the outskirts of the metropolis. Today they make great walking/ running partners, and companions and help reduce stress.

This 36” x 48” acrylic painting on panel reminds me of the continued life experiences that are common to people of society. This silhouette is from a scientific resource and allows me to work within a framework of humanity.

A dream of order and progress with eyes towards humanity’s quest towards balance.

This piece represents the cycle of rebirth and renewal through a genderless deity. They are painted grey, symbolizing what is old and dying and yet from this very source flows back life itself. Their hair represents the flowing, limitless life while the sun halo represents the new day, always bright and shining forward. They are blindfolded, representing the unbiased taking and giving to all, as all are worthy to receive their own renewal and rebirth. All together, they are both renewal and death, illustrating that some parts must die to bring forth the new.

This piece represents growth and resilience.

Phoenicians as a community will revitalize our wonderful city as a monsoon brings life and renewal to our deserts and mountains.

Sometimes an escape to the remarkable beauty of Arizona’s high mountains gives us greater appreciation for the state that we Phoenicians live in.

In Greek mythology, the phoenix is a creature who has the ability to regenerate and essentially “be born again”. At the end of their life, the legend states, the bird will combust in flames and rebirth from the ashes. The flames depicted in this painting titled, “Inferno”, represents our chance to reset. As a community, we have experienced a challenging year during a global pandemic. It is my hope that we will rise, just like a phoenix bird. We will overcome the hardships, socialize, connect and flourish as one community.

Letting go and using a pallet knife to stroke glorious gobs of oil paint onto this 30” x 40” canvas brought me so much joy. This joy is a revival of letting go and not worrying about the finished piece, but enjoying every buttery stroke. Joy is how I feel every morning I wake up in this beautiful state and admire the amazing colors. The style and colors used depict the energy and passion I see in this state every day.

There has been loss for the love of art. All live performers were strictly cut from doing the things they love most. This here, the dying swan, shows that the love of the art and the exposure is slowly dying. But what people don’t know is that the swan will rise in a new era of art in Arizona. The black swan represents the missing arts our community enjoys. I truly missed the ballet in 2020, and painting my daughter helped fill the loss and renew my spirit into believing such a beautiful art will never disappear.

This is the first time I spotted a female Black Rosy-Finch. To see her on new spring blooms gives me hope that 2021 will deliver many more beautiful moments.

This charming broad-tailed hummingbird remains calm even though the temperature drops and snow covers the garden.

Peace Within the Storm depicts a woman finding her way through the struggles of life. After the incredibly tough year we just experienced, it is important to remember just how adaptive we can be. Even though we may be facing tough times, there is so much good we can focus on. We can take joy in that first sip of coffee in the morning, appreciate the beautiful nature that surrounds us, and put in the effort to be kinder to those we meet. We can all come together and find our peace within the storm.

Coyote Canyon is a digital illustration that I created to show in a unique way the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and the beautiful wildlife that lives in it. My use of symbolism and bright colors give it a folk-art style.

This piece features the Earth flying like that of an Egyptian Sun Disk with a Flower of Life backing circle. Platonic solids, metatron’s cube in the bottom left and a shell-like spiral illustrate the Fibonacci sequence with a tiny primordial “Om” symbol emanating from its center. All symbols in this piece represent everything our Earth is made of or from. I wanted to illustrate the Earth flying through the cosmos and remind any viewer that there is a story behind everything around us. These symbols are a language encoded into everything.

The sacred geometrical symbol behind the skulls is called a 64-pointed star tetrahedron, a Flower of Life pattern like grid can be seen in the background and lastly with a blackened void and star dots. Well 64 is the smallest number with exactly seven divisors. There are 64 codons in human DNA. There are 64 manifestations of Shiva in Hinduism. 64 is encoded into YHWM, meaning God in Hebrew. So there is a larger significance to this symbol than just being some mashed up shape of triangles lined up to look awesome as it may appear.

Further, one can see a grid-like pattern of the Flower of Life. This pattern is known to be glue of this universe holding everything together. If you were to put spheres around each tetrahedron of the 64 tetrahedron grid, you’d get a two-intentional image of the Flower of Life. Shapes in sacred geometry seem to work together and speak a visual language. The Flower of Life represents everything around us, and many cultures from around the world have showcased such imagery of this even without having talked to one another.

Photomicrographic image (photo taken through a microscope) created by growing citric acid crystals on a microscope slide. It literally and figuratively represents the creation of order and beauty from chaos.

We learn new paths forward from our elders’ history and stories. Their spirit moves us with great energy for our future.

This is one of the paintings in my mini-series about wildflowers. Wildflowers are known for being able to grow and thrive without interference from humans. They’re found in large numbers and bring beauty and color to otherwise bland landscapes. Showman features the American Bellflower, unusual for its height and beauty of its blossoms. Each blossom is short-lived, but when it fades a new one appears further up the plant.

Restless Dream is a piece about strength. Leaving the old in order to step into the new. Sometimes it starts with a vision/dream. reIMAGINE.

Connection is about the creation of mankind and the beauty we strive to be every day. Sometimes we allow external experiences to override our inner beauty.

Untranslatable Connection is between a force (highest truest expression of ourselves) and the universe working together to bring self-realization to fruition.

Much of my work revolves around nature. Animals show such resilience in nature as they are in a constant state of survival. They are in a perpetual state of revival. This Black Hawk is one of 250 pairs in the US that makes a nest in my backyard annually. The pair rebuilds their new home every year.

Much of my work revolves around nature. Animals show such resilience in nature as they are in a constant state of survival. They are in a perpetual state of revival. This Great Blue Heron visits the creek in my backyard annually.

From my new Emergent series, “The Promise” is inspired by the brilliant red amaryllis blooming in my studio. I am in awe of the transformation it goes through daily on its way from a nondescript brown bulb to becoming a mass of blossoms on a single stalk. Its new growth reflects the way I am feeling these days … promises of possibilities, and revival of spirit in all areas of my life are starting to emerge.
