This exhibit is displayed in a hybrid format with a limited number of the selected pieces on display at GPEC’s downtown Phoenix office and the remainder shown in a virtual space. Although the office is not open to the public, various private events bring viewers into the space.

Greater Phoenix is beautiful year-round, but I fell in love when I witnessed the storms. The beauty of the lightning across the sky was so majestic and was only dwarfed by the way the desert came alive after the rains. This artwork represents that beauty.

Inspired by ghost sightings in Apache Junction. “Ganadero Fantasma” depicts a faceless Ranchero at dusk – dawn can be uncommon in these parts. Think about that for a second…

I like how there’s really no escape from the bright sun; even the shade seems to have a sense of reflection.

As an artist and Arizona native I use bright colors to depict the colors and feelings I have for our beautiful state. I am also Hispanic – culturally we use lime in so many different ways. Often used as a garnish, it’s a staple in the Mexican culture!

A slender wildly decorated cactus reaches toward a starry night sky. The moon responds by shining brightly. The painting addresses the theme of Greater Phoenix is Poppin’ because this cactus is an icon and my cactus is a show-off.

This photograph showcases South Mountain through the eyes of an infrared converted point and shoot camera. While the desert may lack vegetation, it is abundant in sunlight. When photographed in infrared in full sun, it becomes otherworldly.

“La Diabla Rosa” is a portrayal of the maneater stereotype. It comments on charisma that is so powerful it is terrifying, so mesmerizing it’s devilish.

“Blooming Moon” was inspired by the warm colors and curved formations of Papago Park in Phoenix. The desert will always be a grounding, spiritual place that must be protected, respected and celebrated.

Painted in oil, this piece depicts the iconic mountain that dominates our view whenever we travel around the east valley.

I took pictures of this rock many years ago. In the fall of 2021, I finally got to go back and take new pictures of this beauty. So happy it was still standing!

Inspired on a dream that I had walking in the Arizona desert and there were fish swimming around saguaro cacti.

Picacho Peak is a geological marvel about an hour south of Phoenix. My painting, 36” x 30” took me two months to complete. I could feel the volcanic forces of the peak permeating my painting throughout the process. Hiking it was unforgettable!

This piece is done on watercolor paper with acrylics. Devin Booker is a popular name among the basketball lovers in Greater Phoenix. Since he’s so popular, I felt he was an ideal subject for this pop art piece.

In this piece of work, I have tried to depict some prominent buildings found in Greater Phoenix along with the popping hot air balloons. These are two of the many things which anyone living in Arizona can identify with.

The beautiful landscape of the city of Phoenix is great for the diversity that makes you wander and explore and to wonder at the same time.

Amazing wildlife in the Sedona desert, contrasted with the full color of beautiful cacti. It makes Phoenix a unique place.

This piece is one of four in my pop art cactus series. I loved being able to create these pieces in the nostalgic colors I loved growing up in the 80s.

The bright colors of this piece are a throwback to the poppin colors I remember growing up. Being a native of Arizona, I loved being able to capture cactus in a different way.

This piece is a part of a series I completed using bright colors to depict the many colors of Arizona. As an Arizona native, I loved being able to use the cactus as my subject.

Growing up in Arizona meant seeing cactus everywhere. This piece is an homage to the colors of my childhood and a representation of where I grew up. Arizona continues to be a state filled with beautiful colors and diversity.

This is an original hand-cut and hand-printed serigraph measuring 30” x 30” that depicts the wonderful cacti of the valley and the delicious Prickly Pear that visitors love.

This is the inspiration for “Arizona Skies.” The rich and vibrant pallet is unique to the Valley. The colors “pop” to celebrate the diversity of our region.

“Arizona Skies” is a mosaic of a sunset in a rainstorm as seen from Orange Sky. It includes over 300 photos of sunsets and clouds taken in the region. They “pop” individually and come together to celebrate this great view of Greater Phoenix.
