Can you imagine being in a place where you can work, create, innovate and connect with other tech entrepreneurs? You’re in luck, because this kind of place exists in Greater Phoenix.

As part of the Ambassador program, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) held an asset tour at University of Advancing Technology (UAT) and Perimeter83.

Ambassadors got a first-hand look of the unique university’s workforce development and co-working space filled with tech innovation.

Here are four takeaways from the tour:

1. Perimeter83’s Coworking Space

Nestled inside UAT’s campus, Perimeter83 is a great place for tech startups. Unlike some coworking spaces, Perimeter83 is made exclusively for tech startups and entrepreneurs who are interested in utilizing the entire UAT campus for meetings, scrum sprints and day-to-day operations.

Key features include:

  • Scrum-friendly team work space
  • On-site overnight suites
  • Use of technology (PC and Apple workstations, 3D printers, laser cutters and other rapid prototyping technology)
  • Gaming development
  • Premier access to special events and mentor speaker series
  • And more!

2. Cyber Warfare Range

The UAT Cyber Warfare Range is a unique learning environment that features an HD webcam to stream online lectures, flexible new computers and wireless access for up to 30 students.

What separates this warfare range from traditional classrooms? It is designed to promote hands-on learning and foster collaboration. Additionally, the walls are coated with special paint to block wireless signals from entering the classroom.

3. Makers Fab Lab

UAT became the first university in Greater Phoenix to open a Makers Fab Lab. This lab is equipped with the latest 3D printers, maker bots, CNC cutters and software, providing a place for students to bring innovative ideas to life.

4. Workforce/Corporate Training

UAT partners with companies to provide upskill and workforce training. The university also offers a flexible learning approach through SyncFlex, designed to maximize convenience while integrating the project experience.

For adult learners, the SyncFlex courses break down the barriers of online and on-ground learning, and making the work and innovation more of the focus than the social aspects of campus life.

Conclusion
Greater Phoenix is place to learn and grow, with a strong educational system. With UAT and Perimeter83, this unique university is proactively working to improve the community, innovate for our future and prepare a talented workforce for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow.
