Meet Scottsdale-based artist Kelli Berry featured in our virtual art exhibit ‘The Ties That Bind’

What do you love about being an artist in the Greater Phoenix area?

The Phoenix art scene is vibrant and growing. I’ve lived in the metro area for over 25 years and to watch the artist community grow in such a robust manner has been very exciting. I like a strong healthy community and appreciate being a part of that creative vibe. Art changes lives for the better.

What role do you think the arts & culture plays in our community as a whole?

I’m always saddened when art is slashed from governmental budgets because art and the creative process brings understanding and thought-provoking moments to our lives. Art is a reflection of the challenges and victories manifested in our immediate and global world. I enjoy contributing to the positive side of those opportunities.

What is your favorite art venue/event in the Greater Phoenix area?

Well, of course, First Fridays are my fav! However, the historical art districts in old town Phoenix like Roosevelt, Melrose, Coronado and other locales have a done a jam up job of promoting artists and that creative spirit. Phoenix is rich in historic architecture, multi-cultural traditions, food, and agriculture and it all seems to come together in these art districts as a whole. I intend to remain a part of its exponential growth!
