  • The region had over 58,000 jobs in battery-production-related occupations in 2025, up more than 20% from a decade ago; factoring in related roles like software and operations management brings the total workforce to nearly 170,000.
  • The Future48 Workforce battery accelerator launched in 2025, providing workforce training in manufacturing technologies and bringing together the county, community colleges and private industry for a comprehensive learning model.

  • Arizona experienced less than one day of outage per year in 2024, ranking 2nd best in the nation for outage duration, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration
  • The region’s two main utility providers, APS and SRP, are diversifying their energy portfolios with new battery storage projects, including SRP’s Pediment system, which alone can power roughly 56,250 Valley homes for four hours.
  • Arizona was a top market for battery energy storage system (BESS) deployment in the first half of the year, adding 6.2 gigawatt-hours of new storage in the second quarter alone and out of the seven gigawatt-or-larger projects brought online nationwide, four were located here per the Solar Energy Industries Association.
