A conversation with Public Relations and Marketing Specialist Kaylee Stock 

Tell us about your company: 

Kaylee Stock: Founded in 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona by Dale Rector, Realty Executives quickly established themselves as an industry disruptor. Seeing a pattern of agents paying high commissions and keeping low profit, Rector set out to create a business that put the individuals first — the basis of which Realty Executives still runs on today. Now, celebrating 55 years in 2020, Realty Executives has over 500 offices and 8,000 agents worldwide. With a focus on technology and customer service, the real estate franchisor built a 100 percent in-house technology development team, launching several tools and initiatives these past few years to better serve agents, brokers and consumers. This included being the first real estate franchise to launch a proprietary data standardization and mapping platform. In 2019, Realty Executives became part of one of the Valley’s largest independent capital firms, Outlier. Headquartered in Phoenix, Outlier brings a community of global businesses and resources, to support Realty Executives. CEO David Tedesco is committed to fueling business growth in Phoenix, along with recruiting and training local talent.

Stock: Phoenix 

How did your company get started? 

Stock: Working as a Realtor in the 60s, founder Dale Rector recognized the need of putting the agent first in the real estate industry. So in 1965, he created the first ever 100 percent commission concept that turned the industry upside-down. He began to recruit top performers and offered them a flat fee where their commissions stayed with them, building a company structure that would support the efforts of the agent. He opened his first office in Scottsdale and opened Realty Executives Phoenix in 1966. 

Explain why you chose Greater Phoenix to build your company: 

Stock: CEO David Tedesco started several businesses in Phoenix after coming to visit a friend. Phoenix has continued to be home, and a great place to grow and evolve our business. 

What makes your product unique and different? 

Stock: Realty Executives International was built as an industry disrupter with entrepreneurial spirit, something we have continued to lead with throughout the last 55 years. Our company is not a typical corporate real estate brand beholden by stakeholders or dividends. We focus on the individual’s success and their business. We empower our partners to pursue their vision, build their culture and create value their way. Our success is measured by the success of our network. 

What is the best thing about having your business in Greater Phoenix? 

Stock: By far — the people. Realty Executives has an incredible support and leadership team that loves their Arizona roots and we hope to continue to recruit local talent. The weather isn’t too shabby either! 

In your opinion, why should someone build a career in Greater Phoenix? 

Stock: Greater Phoenix has such a diverse group of community members that are willing to work hard and learn fast. The city has an incredible network of small and large businesses that is growing every day. The area also has a great cost of living for what it offers. You get the big city life without the big city cost, making it great for entry-level or high-level careers. 

What are three words you would use to describe the business community in Greater Phoenix? 

Stock: Entrepreneurial, adaptable, helpful
