What is your first and last name?

Bethany Bennick

How old are you?

28

What current city do you reside in?

Scottsdale

How long have you lived in Greater Phoenix?

I am a native Arizonan (born and raised in Cave Creek). With the exception of college and several years overseas, I consider myself lucky to call Greater Phoenix home.

Why’d you decide to stay?

Greater Phoenix is a remarkable place to call home. The weather is beautiful, the outdoor adventures plentiful and the opportunity for growth is truly endless. I enjoy the diversity of thought, landscape and industries represented in Arizona. It’s been fun watching my hometown grow and evolve before my eyes.

What college/university did you graduate from and what’s your degree?

Pepperdine University ’13 – Dual B.A. in International Relations and French Studies

Thunderbird School of Global Management ’18 – M.A. in Global Affairs and Management

Where do you currently work and what is your title?

I have recently joined the engagement team at the Greater Phoenix Economic Council as their Manager of Investor Relations.

What do you like to do in Greater Phoenix on the weekends?

On the weekends, I enjoy different cultural/art festivals, farmers markets and hiking trails. I also enjoy seeking out the many different flavors of Phoenix with friends (especially during AZ Restaurant Week). I like to use the weekends to recharge and reconnect.

What’s your go-to staycation spot and why?

Hotel Adeline and The Scott are both hidden gems. Any resort with a lazy river is also a must. I recently heard about a tiny house camping retreat and will be giving that a try soon.

What’s your favorite restaurant and why?

It’s hard to choose a favorite with so many options and ever-changing preferences. Some historical favorites have been El Encanto, Kazimierz Wine & Whiskey Bar, CIBO, Arizona Wilderness Brewing, and The Herb Box. I’m also a fan of trying out new food trucks.

How do you stay “cool” in the Arizona summers?

Armed with margaritas, pool floaties and a good book.

What do you love most about living in Greater Phoenix?

I love the innovation happening in the region. It’s great that Greater Phoenix is being recognized on its own merits rather than outdated stereotypes. In my previous roles, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of introducing 469 citizen diplomats from more than 70 countries to this beautiful place. It’s a joy to see their opinions of Greater Phoenix actively change throughout their visit. We’ve got the Wild West heritage to explore at places like Goldfield Ghost Town and Cave Creek, but the real fun comes when they learn about the innovative companies and diverse cultures represented in our communities. Their reactions remind me of how proud I am to be a Phoenician!

Please include anything else you’d like to share about what makes Greater Phoenix so great.

Greater Phoenix is accessible, innovative and remarkably diverse. In many ways, the region is easy-going and responsive to the needs and desires of its inhabitants. From hiking to high rises, Greater Phoenix’s lifestyle provides great balance for communities to thrive.
