36 years + 5 as a kid

Where are you originally from and why’d you decide to move to Arizona?

I grew up all around the world, Air Force Brat. But, I did high school and college in Sacramento and the Bay Area. I decided to move here when I got job offers out of college in San Jose and Phoenix. The pay was the same but I would have had to get a roommate in San Jose. So I moved out here in 1986 to save up so I could rent my own apartment in San Jose. I still can’t afford to do that.

What college/university did you graduate from and what’s your degree?

University of California, Berkeley. BS, Mechanical Engineering

Where do you currently work and what is your title?

Principal & Co-Owner of Phoenix Analysis & Design Technologies (PADT)

What do you like to do in Greater Phoenix on the weekends?

Explore new food and beverage spots around the valley. Hike. Go see live music.

What’s your go-to staycation spot and why?

Sedona. Duh. It’s Sedona.

What’s your favorite restaurant and why?

VinciTorio’s. The food, the owners, the wine, the food.

How do you stay “cool” in the Arizona summers?

I stay inside.

What do you like about our winters and why?

The wonderful temperature. Eating and chatting outside. Napping in my hammock.

What do you love most about living in Greater Phoenix?

Life is easy here. Every aspect of going about our life and raising our kids is simpler. The people are genuinely nice and friendly. There is such a large tech community, with lots of smart and interesting people to hang out with.

Please include anything else you’d like to share about what makes Greater Phoenix so great.

It is a great place to do business. We have built a company over the past 25 years here, and the quality of employees and diversity of customers has created a strong foundation for our success. We are now expanding from Texas to California, using Phoenix as our base and our competitive advantage. If we grow enough, maybe I can finally get an apartment in San Jose for when we visit our office there.
