Job Overview

The Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) is seeking a Director, Business Development to support the organization’s core mission to promote quality jobs and improve regional competitiveness. This position with GPEC’s Business Development team is responsible for supporting the team and helping increase transactions that achieve the goals of the organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Business Development, Marketing and Research teams to understand and translate industry trends into business opportunities for this region
  • Manage business development projects through the entire deal lifecycle
  • Tracking results and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of sales and prospecting activities in the CRM database (Salesforce)
  • Achieving an understanding of each community’s value proposition and targeting industries to effectively pitch the region
  • Developing customized solutions that meet prospects’ unique needs and aggressive timetables
  • Following up with prospects to ensure timely contact
  • Participating in targeted functions to build a network that can directly or indirectly help generate qualified prospects, including but not limited to local brokers, site selectors and other multipliers
  • Represent GPEC at national and potentially international conferences to promote investment into the Greater Phoenix region
  • Supporting prospect activities, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements, Qualifications and Desired Traits

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience preferred
  • Highly motivated self-starter who works well independently and with teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional organizational and management skills, including the handling of multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills as well as a strong attention to detail
  • Professional demeanor always
