June 7, 2016The President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Chris Camacho, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker to join a newly established U.S. Investment Advisory Council (IAC). Camacho will join 18 other leaders from across the United States who will serve as advisors on how best to support U.S. economic growth through the attraction and retention of foreign direct investment (FDI).“I am greatly looking forward to joining this incredibly talented and diverse group of regional and national business leaders on the U.S. Investment Advisory Council,” said Camacho. “I want to thank Secretary Pritzker and SelectUSA for gathering this council to advise on strategies around foreign direct investment, a critical component in this global economy.”Read the full release here.

Phoenix selected to develop regional plan to attract...
March 18, 2016Phoenix metro has been selected to develop a regional plan to attract and leverage foreign direct investment, building off its existing Greater Phoenix Export Plan as part of the Global Cities Initiative, a joint-project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Phoenix was selected for its readiness and commitment to strategically pursue foreign direct investment through such activities as greenfield expansions, mergers and acquisitions, and other types of foreign investment including EB-5, private equity, joint-ventures and sovereign wealth funds.“Since the early part of the 2000s, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council has made international business development a strong part of our business attraction and market growth strategy,” said Chris Camacho, president and CEO of GPEC. “The eagerness of our leaders to develop a forward-thinking plan will continue to advance the region in the global economy.”Read the full release here.
