Founder & CEO, Art State Arizona

Kate Marquez is the CEO and Founder of Art State Arizona, where she leads a statewide effort to position the arts as a driver of economic growth, community well-being, and cultural identity. With over 20 years of nonprofit leadership, she has built a high-impact organization supporting more than 2,000 artists and producing 100+ events annually.

A Tucson native with a background in public service, Kate’s early work in government shaped her belief that the arts are essential infrastructure for thriving communities. She previously helped grow the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance into a major regional force, eventually evolving it into Art State Arizona in 2025.

She also founded the CATALYST Creative Collective, a large-scale creative hub, and leads the publication of UNDERCOVER ARTS Magazine, amplifying artists statewide. A recognized advocate, she has contributed to national arts policy and continues to champion cross-sector partnerships that connect the arts with business, education, healthcare, and community development.

Kate is widely respected for her collaborative leadership and commitment to accessibility, ensuring the majority of programming remains free and reaches underserved communities.
