Rob Van Tuyle

Chief Operating Officer / Vitalant Blood Services

Rob Van Tuyle is the Chief Operating Office of Vitalant, overseeing all blood, lab and biotherapy operations. Vitalant, the leading independent transfusion services provided in the United States, collects over 2 million blood products from volunteer blood donors and provides blood products and services to nearly 1,000 hospitals in 28 states. In addition to Rob’s operational responsibilities, Rob is an active member of Vitalant’s $50M venture fund, investing in companies in the transfusion medicine and biotherapy industry.

Prior to joining Vitalant, Rob was the Chief Executive Officer at BloodSource in Sacramento, CA. BloodSource merged with Vitalant in January 2016 and Rob assumed the role of Division President over the West Division of Vitalant.

Rob has extensive experience in financial management, strategic planning and operations. Rob is also a board member for America’s Blood Centers (ABC), a national organization supporting advocacy for community-based, independent blood centers.

Rob received his Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Santa Clara and is a certified public accountant in the state of California. His blood type is A+.
