(Avondale, AZ) The Avondale City Council on January 17th approved an Economic Development agreement with the Vitamin Shoppe to locate its new West Coast distribution facility in Avondale in an existing, newly constructed 187,000 square foot building on Van Buren and 123rd Ave.

Richard Tannenbaum, Senior Vice President with The Vitamin Shoppe stated, “We are very pleased to establish a West Coast distribution presence in the City of Avondale. The Coldwater Depot Center will be a flagship facility for the Vitamin Shoppe and enable us to enhance service and speed to our stores and e-commerce customers. We were delighted with the warm welcome and involvement from everyone on the project, and are excited to put down roots in the community.

Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise extended a welcome to the new development, stating: “Not only are these great jobs for the community, the Vitamin Shoppe’s culture of wellness dovetails nicely with Avondale’s emphasis on health-related initiatives such as the McDowell Road Health-Tech Corridor. I was impressed with the employee programs that make them a premier employer.”

Avondale’s Economic Development Director Dan Davis added, “Working with CB Richard Ellis was a positive experience, and when all the sites had been evaluated, I believe the chemistry between VSI and Avondale played a key role in the final decision. It seems we both understood each other’s mission, resulting in a very positive location experience.”

Tannenbaum continued “At the Vitamin Shoppe we thrive on nourishing our customers and employees, or health enthusiasts, to meet their health and wellness goals. We are excited to build a loyal workforce of new health enthusiasts at this distribution center as well as being an inspiration to the Avondale community.”

He added: “We chose the Phoenix region – and Avondale — for several reasons. We were attracted to the location and easy access to major transportation lanes, the availability of skilled warehousing labor and the excellent working relationship we established with the local supporting business partners. The City of Avondale, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, the team at Trammell Crow and our representatives from CB Richard Ellis all worked exceptionally well together and helped us complete this project.”
