PHOENIX (Sept. 18, 2023) – Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) ranks as the No.1 regional economic development organization (EDO) in the country, according to a new survey of site selectors released today at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Annual Conference in Dallas.

Conducted by Development Counsellors International (DCI) every three years, the “Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing” survey has tracked trends in economic development since its inception in 1996. In the survey’s 10th edition, GPEC ranked as the No. 1 regional EDO out of the 68 groups listed by participating site selection consultants. GPEC recently reached its 34th year advancing Greater Phoenix and in that time has facilitated more than 980 locates, creating over 180,000 high-quality jobs and more than $65 billion in capital investment.

“Greater Phoenix continues to see incredible growth and has become a hub for numerous innovative industries supported by the region’s pro-business ecosystem and spirit of collaboration,” said GPEC’s President and CEO Chris Camacho. “We remain dedicated to building an environment where emerging businesses and new ideas are encouraged and advanced while providing valuable research and resources for our site selection partners, which is key to building a competitive future for the region.”

“One of the most powerful findings from this year’s Winning Strategies study is that we are seeing a significant increase since 2020 of business decision makers who plan to outsource a portion of the site selection process to a consultant or real estate broker in the year ahead”, said Julie Curtin, president of DCI’s economic development practice.  “An economic development organization that has nurtured relationships and served as an effective “go to EDO” for the needs of site selection consultants should be well positioned for expansions and relocations.”
