“We are thrilled to open our latest office in Scottsdale and expand our corporate footprint. As we continue to scale thredUP’s operations, our customer remains at the core of what we do. With that in mind, we’re investing in space to bring in talented engineers and customer service representatives to continue delighting the customer and inspiring the next generation to think secondhand first,” says Allison Hopkins, thredUP COO.

Headquartered in downtown Oakland, CA with distribution centers across the country in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Georgia, and nearby in Phoenix, Arizona, thredUP currently employs over 1,500 people with plans to expand its workforce in 2020. Opening a new permanent home in Scottsdale will allow the local engineers to make the most impact working closely with thredUP’s automated distribution center in Phoenix. thredUP’s distribution centers receive 100,000 items every day and process more than one item every second.

“We are pleased that thredUP has chosen Scottsdale to advance their brand. We are proud of our positive business environment and talented workforce that is attracting growing companies like thredUP, and look forward to celebrating their continued success,” says Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane.

Founded in 2009, thredUP has spent the past 10 years building the backbone of resale on the internet. Today, the company is powering the resale economy – making it easier than ever for millions of women to buy and sell quality secondhand clothing from over 35,000 brands across 100+ product categories. By optimizing its core consumer marketplace and expanding its partnership platform with other retailers, thredUP is shifting fashion culture from throwaway to sustainable by inspiring a new generation of consumers to think secondhand first.

“We were excited when thredUP expanded to the region in 2018 and are energized by their decision to place a corporate office expansion in Scottsdale,” says Chris Camacho, president and CEO, Greater Phoenix Economic Council. “Greater Phoenix is a place where businesses can hire the talent needed to scale operations and we look forward to their ongoing success.”

thredUP is growing its presence in Arizona during a time when a number of eCommerce clothing retailers have expanded to Greater Phoenix, including Gwynnie Bee and Stitch Fix.
