Virtual Exhibition Theme: Public Art of Greater Phoenix
Public art serves as a vibrant and expressive mirror reflecting the cultural pulse of a community. Its dynamic presence on urban surfaces not only adds aesthetic allure, but also encapsulates the narratives, values and histories unique to that locality. By providing a public canvas for diverse voices, public art fosters a sense of belonging, stimulates dialogue, and fosters pride among residents, thus playing a crucial role in shaping and preserving the distinctive identity of a community.
This exhibit is displayed in a hybrid format with a limited number of the selected pieces on display at GPEC’s downtown Phoenix office and the remainder shown in a virtual space. Although the office is not open to the public, various private events bring viewers into the space.
