The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has announced the roster of Economic Development leaders that will serve on the organization’s Marketing Advisory Committee in 2022. Colleen Schwab, Chief Performance Officer, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), will serve as Chair on the Marketing Advisory Committee (MAC).

“I’m humbled and honored to lead the talented IEDC Marketing Advisory Committee,” said Schwab. “Collaboration is at the core of what we do at GPEC and it enables us to fulfill our mission and collectively advance the competitiveness of Greater Phoenix. Carrying that spirit of partnership to the Marketing Advisory Committee, we can inspire innovation both locally and internationally in pursuit of moving the profession forward to continue building equitable economies across the globe that creates opportunity for all.”

GPEC was recognized as the 2021 top economic development organization globally (population 500k+) by IEDC, closing the 2021 Fiscal year with 45 companies selecting Greater Phoenix for expansion or relocation, the creation of 9,928 new jobs, 5,470 of those being high-wage jobs with an average salary of $77,256 and generating $13 billion in capital investment. Greater Phoenix is the fastest growing U.S. market (ACS 2019 1-year), ranks No. 1 in job growth (U.S. News & World Report) and the region has recovered 123% of non-farm payroll jobs lost between February and April 2020 because of the pandemic with Arizona touting the third best national recovery.

“IEDC is a tremendous partner and leader in economic development, and this is an important step to integrate further within the economic development community to implement best practice standards and inspire the future generation of economic developers,” said Chris Camacho, president and CEO of GPEC. “By participating in various committees and at the board level, we are sharing and receiving insights that influence and guide best practices to better serve our community and businesses in Greater Phoenix.”

The MAC advises the Board of Directors and IEDC staff on marketing best practices, particularly those that support the strategic and financial goals of the organization, such as membership, conferences, profession development, research and advocacy. The MAC will also, from time to time, provide analysis and recommendations to IEDC on the organization’s marketing practices. The MAC may further provide resources for IEDC’s members and the economic development community by participating in webinars, providing content for IEDC’s newsletters and research, and creating materials and guides emphasizing current and trending marketing practices.

“We look forward to the service that this exceptional selection of professionals will bring in 2022,” said 2022 IEDC Board Chair and President and Executive Director of Work Rise, Urban Institute Todd Greene, CEcD, “I cannot wait to see what we will accomplish together going forward.”
