Josh Reed joined the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) in March 2020 as the organization’s Senior Director of Communications. In his role, Josh will lead GPEC’s media relations programs and provide strategic communications direction on key initiatives for various stakeholders. Josh will execute an overarching PR plan to elevate the region and GPEC’s profile internationally and domestically to contribute to the expansion and relocation of business in the region.
Josh joins GPEC as a seasoned public relations professional with nearly a decade of PR agency experience at Allison+Partners, a global strategic communications firm, where he worked out of the agency’s Phoenix office and served in a multitude of roles from May 2011 to March 2020. Most recently, Josh held the title of Account Manager, where he provided a diverse client-base with daily strategic communications counsel, and oversaw the development of public relations programs and day-to-day tactical execution. Josh brings authenticity and innovation to storytelling with proficiency in media relations and strategic communications.
During his tenure, Josh has worked with brands across numerous industries including Toyota Motor North America and Gulf States Toyota, Samsung, Vistage, Danone, UL (Underwriters Laboratories), Zepp and Dew Tour. Josh also represented GPEC on the agency side for two-years prior to coming in-house. Josh was an integral member of the PR team who helped launch GPEC’s #CAstruggles campaign in 2019 and the ‘Seattle Head Tax’ program, which saw Allison+Partners and GPEC take home the top honor at the PRSA Copper Anvils award ceremony in October 2019.
In 2014, Josh served as vital part of the comms outfit that assisted with the relocation of Toyota’s North American headquarters from Southern California to Plano, Texas. Imbedded in North Texas at the automotive manufacture’s temporary location, Josh served as the on-the-ground liaison between the agency and the automotive manufacture’s corporate communications leadership to conceptualize and execute ‘Hello Texas!’ In 2015, Toyota and Allison+Partners’ work paid off as they took home a PRSA Silver Anvil award, which honor outstanding communications programs.
Josh graduated from the University of Utah (Go Utes!) with a B.S. in Mass Communication. He was a member of the Utes baseball team from 2009-2010 after transferring from Central Arizona College where he played from 2007-2008 and earned his Associate’s Degree.
Josh currently resides in Phoenix where he spends his free time golfing, coaching youth baseball, watching the Utes in any sport, and spending time with family and friends.
